Potato DISH

About P-DISH

The Potato Disease Information & Service Hub (P-DISH) is a collaborative platform developed to serve potato growers, extension agents, and researchers. P-DISH is designed as an information-sharing and service hub that integrates disease monitoring, image-based intelligent diagnosis, sample diagnosis services, and risk forecasting to support timely decision-making in potato production.

The platform collects and organizes real-time data from field observations, laboratory diagnostics, and predictive models, providing site-specific insights on disease occurrence and management recommendations. P-DISH also hosts extension articles, educational resources, and a community-driven reporting system, allowing users to contribute disease occurrence data and access curated knowledge.

P-DISH is accessible via web browsers on desktop and mobile devices (iOS and Android), with a user-friendly interface for managing accounts, uploading samples, and receiving personalized information. By combining monitoring, diagnosis, forecasting, and service delivery, P-DISH serves as a comprehensive and practical tool to help reduce potato disease impact and improve production sustainability.

Collaboration

Jialin Yu - P-DISH Collaboration Expert

Jialin Yu, Ph.D.

Professor, Institute of Modern Agriculture, Peking University

Received his Ph.D. from the University of Georgia, and conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Florida and Texas A&M University. He has long been committed to research in the field of precision agriculture related to weed control. He serves as Executive Associate Editor of European Journal of Agronomy and Weed Science, previously as Associate Editor of Crop Protection, and Guest Editor of the special section “AI-Powered Weed Management”.

Selected for the Taishan Scholar Young Expert Program of Shandong Province and the "Yuandu Scholar" Program of Weifang City in 2022. He has presided over projects such as the General Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, research projects of the US Department of Agriculture, and sub-projects of the Shandong Key R&D Program. He has achieved a series of phased results in the research of chemical weed control and precision weeding methods, publishing 130 papers in SCI journals such as Computers and Electronics in Agriculture, Pest Management Science, and European Journal of Agronomy. He has presented more than 70 poster and oral presentations in English at academic conferences such as the International Turfgrass Society, American Society of Agronomy, Crop Science Society of America, and Weed Science Society of America. He has applied for and obtained 40 authorized invention patents, 15 registered software copyrights, and 3 achievement transformations. His research results have received extensive attention and high recognition from international peers.

He is currently collaborating with us on research on intelligent detection methods for potato diseases, and has built the intelligent detection APP "Plant Guardian", which can realize the rapid identification and detection of potato common scab, powdery scab, lenticel enlargement and other diseases.

Xiaofeng Zhou - P-DISH Collaboration Expert

Xiaofeng Zhou, Ph.D.

Associate Professor, School of Agriculture and Biotechnology, Sun Yat-sen University

Received his Ph.D. from the Department of Microbiology and Cell Science, University of Florida, and subsequently conducted postdoctoral research at the Florida Citrus Research and Education Center and the Department of Developmental Biology, Stanford University. His research focuses on the biology and pathogenic mechanisms of plant pathogenic bacteria, bacterial asymmetric cell division, and cell cycle regulation of unculturable bacteria.

He has been selected as a Young Top Talent under the Guangdong Province Pearl River Talent Program and as a Category C Overseas High-Level Talent under the Shenzhen Peacock Plan. He has led multiple research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Natural Science Foundation of Guangdong Province, and BGI open research programs.

He has published more than ten peer-reviewed papers in high-impact SCI journals, including PNAS and mBio, holds three authorized Chinese invention patents, and serves as a reviewer for journals such as PLOS Pathogens, PLOS Genetics, and Phytopathology.

He is currently collaborating with us on research related to the pathogenic mechanisms and molecular regulation processes of Pectobacterium spp. in potato.
